WASHINGTON,
May 24 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Friday urged Muslims, Arabs, as well
as those with conscience inside and outside the United States to
immediately embark on a media campaign against three most famous U.S.
media personalities, due to their abuse of Islam in the media.
CAIR
said the three made a habit of attacking Islam, looking down upon
Muslims, and describing them as ‘backward’. The three are Dr. Lora
Slasinger and Paul Harvy, both well-known announcers, in addition to
Joseph Farah, editor of far-right World Net Daily Website.
Slasinger,
in her widely listened to program – named after her – used to dub
Islam as ‘uncivilized religion’, attack people who live on ‘a
big part’ of the world, and teach ‘their babies to kill the
infidels’, referring to Islam' CAIR said.
On
April, 2002, Slasinger claimed there was “an Islamic plan” to
control the world. Also, in handling the Middle East issue, she adopts
pro-Israeli extreme stands.
As
for Harvy, he used his program to interpret Islam the way he sees fit
to attack a Divine religion embraced by over 1.2 billion people
worldwide. “According to Islamic culture, being in debt is a shame,
while ‘selling your daughters’ is not,” Paul Harvy said.
For
his part, Farah repeated accusations propagated by Pro-Israeli lobby
about Allah’s last Prophet Mohammad (Peace and blessings be upon
him). They accuse the Prophet (pbuh) of violating Hudaybiya Treaty
(signed between Muslims and infidels of Macca, then violated by the
latter party) . However, anti-Muslim lobby uses the distorted form of
the story to refer to Muslims in general, and Palestinians in
particular.
“This
is the result of more than 50 years of a one-sided, blind, uncritical
support for the state of Israel and people are just getting
frustrated. You have many members of Congress who are more loyal to
the state of Israel than they are to their own country...” said one
CAIR representative, commenting on what the pro-Israel lobby
propagates for.
Farah
wrote, “ You may have never heard of Hudaybiya Treaty, but if you
cannot understand (Palestinian President Yasser) Arafat’s gestures,
then you cannot get the Islamic rule he uses in his double meaning
talk.
“Hudaybiya
is a small oasis on the Macca-Medinah road where Mohammad fought Islam’s early battles. During a lost battle, he
signed
a strategic peace treaty for ten years with the Quraish Tribe that
lived in Macca. Two years later, his forces were stronger, so, he
sneaked and attacked the secure people of Macca, and seized the
city.”
Farah
recently rejected criticism to an article he published on his website
calling for killing 100 Palestinians in return for each Israeli child.
So, he wrote; “I find the suggestion a reasonable and
carefully-studied contribution to the debate around the Middle
East”.
