SAN
JUAN, Puerto Rico, May 23 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – In the
National Costume show for Miss Universe delegates at Bellas Artes in
San Juan, Puerto Rico Tuesday, May 21, Miss Israel’s dress, which
showed a map of Israel on the front and the Israeli flag in the back,
showed her rejection of the idea of a Palestinian state.
In
a tougher stance than that of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who
has placed many hurdles in the way of a Palestinian state, and
contrary to U.S. President George W. Bush’s demand for a Palestinian
state, Yamit Har-Noy chose to adopt the right-wing Likud Party’s
Central Committee’s rejection of establishing a Palestinian state in
the re-occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Miss
Israel’s controversial national costume was seen as an emphasis of
the Israeli government’s hardline position, news agencies reported.
