Mawlawis War Against U.S. Troops in Pakistan

Mawlawis angry because of the U.S. Troops in Pakistan

By Hosban Allah Abdel Baki, IOL Central Asia Correspondent

PESHAWAR, May 6 (IslamOnline) - Members of the “Scholars of Islam” and “Students of Islam” organizations confirmed that they would not allow the U.S. forces to access the religious schools looking for what they call terrorists from the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, said Sunday the Palestinian newspaper Al-Masreq.

In a meeting held in a school located in the border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan, participants said that all scholars and students, as well as Pakistani tribes, are ready to defend their mosques, religious schools, and different Islamic holy sites in the country, the paper reported.

Al-Masreq also said that Mawlawi Mohamed Dinar, leader of the “Scholars of Islam” in Wazirstan and former member in the Pakistani parliament, said that U.S. troops will not be allowed to violate our religious schools and we will defend all religious schools in Pakistan.

Various Mawlawis among the “Scholars of Islam” officials said that the U.S. troops insist on breaking in Pakistani religious schools pretending to look for terrorists after killing many Muslims and ending the Taliban regime.

“We will not allow these U.S. troops to conduct military operations in Northern Wazirstan,” the Mawlawis said. However, participants in the meeting added it is possible the Pakistani troops can search schools whenever they want to if they have any suspicions, but they will not be allowed to insult mosques and religious schools under the pretext of searching.

They also said that if the United States is really launching a war against terror, then it should be fighting Israel and India, who are killing Muslims in Palestine and Kashmir.

Conducting U.S. military operations in the Pakistani tribes area is considered as launching a war against the country, said Razno Afreedi, secretary of the Islamic group in Sarhend.

He also said the U.S. authorities want to make the situation in the Pakistani tribes areas similar to that in Afghanistan. The Israelis have always tried to destroy the Pakistani nuclear power, in addition they wish to remove Islamic roots from the Pakistani society, he added.

Afreedi demanded the Pakistani President, Pervez Musharraf, to exit the U.S. troops from these areas as soon as possible, or else the government will be responsible for any violence that could erupt.

Meanwhile, an Afghani newspaper called Shehadet, said Sunday that handwritten flyers are being distributed in Northern Wazirstan asking people to Jihad against U.S. troops as well as those who cooperate with them in their operations.

President Musharraf had earlier said the Taliban couldn’t organize its lines in Pakistan, as strict security measures are being held by Pakistan on its borders with Afghanistan.

He also added that although some members of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, who aim at hurting the Pakistani interests, have been able to cross the Pakistani borders, Osama bin Laden, leader of the Taliban, has not entered Pakistan.” He is either dead or still in Afghanistan,” he added.

Musharraf said there are currently 12 American advisors in Pakistan to help the Pakistani forces in their operations against Al-Qaeda organization in the country.

The Pakistani government official spokesmen denied the presence of any U.S. troops in Pakistan, adding that everything published in the newspapers about U.S. troops arrival to Northern and Southern Wazirstan to conduct military operations against Al-Qaeda and the Taliban is not true and aims to discredit the image of the government.

Al-Masreq newspaper said there is a plan to conduct searching operations Al-Qaeda and the Taliban members in the Afghani immigrants neighborhoods in the Pakistani town of Karachi.

Both the U.S. and Pakistani forces will conduct these searching operations in the next few days and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) will question those to be arrested, the paper said.

This decision has been taken after 18 Taliban members were earlier arrested in Pakistan, in addition that the U.S authorities said it has information regarding the presence of Al-Qaeda and the Taliban members in Pakistan.
