Netanyahu says Iraq strike imminent
|
WASHINGTON,
April 11, (IslamOnline & News Agencies) – Former Israeli Prime
Minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, said that Americans have already made the
decision to strike at Iraq to get rid of Saddam Hussein, Israeli army
radio reported Thursday, April 11.
Israeli
radio said that Netanyahu also told U.S. Jews that U.S. calls for the
pullout of the Israeli army were merely aimed at calming the region
before a U.S. strike at Iraq, leading Israeli daily newspaper,
Ha’aretz, reported Thursday, April 11.
In
a public relations tour to boost the collapsing image of Israel,
hard-line Netanyahu questioned, Wednesday, April 10, the U.S. commitment
to a “war on terror” after U.S. President George W. Bush urged
Israel to withdraw from occupied Palestinian territories.
"Until
last week, I was certain that the United States would adhere to its
principles and lead the free world to a decisive victory. Today, I too
have my concerns," Netanyahu said in a speech before the U.S.
Senate.
"I
am concerned that when it comes to terror directed against Israel, the
moral and strategic clarity that is so crucial for victory is being
twisted beyond recognition," Netanyahu said.
The
conservative politician used harsh language to criticize Washington,
while at the same time showed support for Israel's defiance of Bush's
request for a withdrawal from the occupied West Bank towns.
Israel
moved into the West Bank and surrounded Palestinian leader Yasser
Arafat's headquarters immediately after the conclusion of an Arab Summit
in Beirut, in which Arab leaders offered Israel a peace plan based on
Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah’s land-for-peace initiative.
For
two weeks, the Israeli occupation army has been occupying numerous
villages and towns in the West Bank, and has committed atrocities that
have been internationally condemned.
On
Wednesday, April 10, Israeli occupation forces publicly executed a large
number of Palestinian youth, after the fall of the Jenin refugee camp.
Earlier,
Israel carried out a bloody massacre in Jenin’s refugee camp on
Sunday, April 7, killing at least 35 Palestinians after Palestinians
refused to comply to their orders.
Israeli
occupation forces bombed the refugee camp using U.S.-made Apache planes
with more than 20 rockets, the Qatar-based Al Jazeera satellite channel
reported.
