JENIN,
April 10 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - The resistance leader in
Jenin refugee camp, Sheikh Gamal Abu El-Heiga, confirmed that the
refugee camp fell Wednesday morning, April 10, in the hands of the
Israeli occupation forces which are now publicly executing a large
number of Palestinian youth.
Abu
El-Heiga told IslamOnline that the occupation forces were now largely
in control of the refugee camp after eight days of fierce Palestinian
resistance. “The occupation force is currently shooting at the
resistance fighters and publicly executing them,” he added.
“They
are bombing whatever is remaining from the camp while embarking on a
wide scale abduction campaign of the youth, taking them from their
families,” Abu El-Heiga said.
Palestinian
fighters in the camp, which is home to about 14,000 refugees, stated
they would rather die than surrender. Israeli occupation troops were
firing mortars into the camp early Wednesday and bulldozers were
demolishing homes, Israel Radio reported.
The skirmishes came one day after Palestinian resistance in the Jenin
camp delivered the hardest blow yet to the Israelis since their
offensive began. Fourteen Israeli soldiers were killed in a carefully
timed double ambush coming in retaliation for the massacres that the
Israeli army carried out in Jenin in which at least 200 Palestinians
were killed.
Israel
announced Wednesday morning the death of the 15th soldier killed in
the Jenin camp on Tuesday, April 9. The soldier was killed by a bomb
detonated near his patrol, Israel Radio reported. Twelve soldiers were
injured in the incident, none seriously.
Informed
Palestinian sources told IslamOnline that resistance fighters in Jenin
killed more than 35 occupation soldiers and injured one-hundred others
during the eight days of intensive Israeli military operations against
the refugee camp.
Palestinians
in Jenin expressed their fear that the occupation forces will massacre
all those besieged inside the camp especially that they had run out of
ammunition and were no longer able to resist except by throwing stones
at the heavily armored occupation soldiers.
Palestinian
sources told IslamOnline about humiliating Israeli acts against the
men, women, children and elderly in the camp. “They force the men to
strip naked in front of everyone and lie down while threatening to
crush them under the wheels of the tanks,” sources added.
One
of the resistance fighters in the camp called Abd El-Salam told
IslamOnline’s correspondent that Tuesday night was the bloodiest
since the start of the Israeli offensive on Jenin. He added that tens
of Palestinians fell martyrs and were wounded overnight. He said the
exact figures of those massacred was impossible to know since Israel
closed off the area.
Abd
El-Salam also told IslamOnline that the Israelis were still bulldozing
tens of Palestinian houses and concealing any evidence of their crimes
and atrocities in the camp. “The camp is almost completely destroyed
and will be extinct in no time,” he added.
Palestinian
witnesses in Jenin said their dead and injured remain lying in the
streets. For its part, the Palestinian leadership said Israel bore
"full responsibility" for the escalation in the conflict and
accused it of "barbaric murders."
Israeli
troops prevented U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees
(UNRWA) and Red Cross workers entering Jenin camp Tuesday, saying only
that there was "a situation" inside as new reports emerged
of Israeli violence, BBC’s online news service reported.
Peter
Hansen, the UNRWA's commissioner general, accused the Israeli
occupation army of creating a "hellish battleground" in the
midst of the refugees.
