OCCUPIED TERRITORIES, Ramallah, March 31
(IslamOnline & News Agencies)- The Qatari based satellite
channel Al Jazeera reported Sunday morning, March 31, that Israeli
occupation forces stormed into Palestinian President Yasser
Arafat’s office after breaking the walls that separates his office
from Ramallah’s mayor Mostafa Eisa or Abu Faras.
Al Jazeera quoted the Palestinian Information and
Culture Minister Yasser Abd Rabbo confirming that the Palestinian
President’s office was stormed by Israel’s occupation forces and
there were clashes between the Palestinian soldiers fighting the
Israeli forces who were trying to reach Arafat’s personal office.
Abd Rabbo described the situation as “ highly
critical.” He added that there are two injuries resulted from the
current clashes, one of them is seriously injured.
The injured were reported as Zaki Darweesh, who is
seriously injured, and Mohammed Mahmoud Soliman.
Al Jazeera meanwhile, reported that ambulances were
prevented from reaching nearby Arafat’s office.
Saeb Erikat, Palestinian Minster for Interior Rule,
also said that the Palestinian side is calling on the “world’s
superpower” (United States) to help in getting the ambulances to
reach Arafat’s headquarters.
Erikat described the U.S. President George W. Bush
as “standing on immoral grounds” when he described the Israeli
aggression as Israel’s right to defend itself.
He said that the U.S. lost its credibility as a
peace broker. “The U.S. has to stop Sharon and force him to abide
by the Security Council 1402 resolution,” Erikat said.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Rashid, Arafat’s advisor, said
that the ambulances were unable to reach Arafat’s headquarters to
carry the injuries to a nearby hospitals.
He added that Israel lied once more after they
promised the U.S. to permit the ambulances to reach the injured in
the Palestinian headquarter.
The Red Crescent committee earlier was trying in
vain to negotiate with the Israeli occupation forces to get to the
injured in Arafat’s headquarter, Al Jazeera reported.
In another development, two bomb explosions were
heard in Arafat’s office. The explosions were reported to be gas
bombs set off by the Israeli occupation army.
Currently, Al Jazeera channel is reporting that the
Israeli occupation forces stormed their office in Ramallah where the
channel’s correspondent is covering the Israeli aggression.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Foreign Minister Faruq Al
Qadoomi accused the U.S. of sponsoring and approving the current and
continuous Israeli aggression against the Palestinian President.
Earlier Saturday, March 30, Bush said “Israel is a
democratic country and is responding to its people needs and is
taking necessary measures to protect itself. He said the blame falls
on Arafat for not being firmer with his security forces and the
Palestinian groups carrying out martyr operations,” Al Jazeera
reported.Bush called on Israel to make sure the steps it will take will be
to ensure self-defense will not close the doors to peace.
