Cooperative Measures Between Afghanistan And Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 26 (IslamOnline) - Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to reopen a border post at Ghulam Khan to establish the third route between
the two countries, Pakistani English newspaper Dawn reported on Tuesday.
The Ghulam Khan post, 30 kilometers of the Miran Shah town, near Peshawar was closed down following the Sept 11 deadly attacks on the U.S. Pakistan has offered the Afghan interim administration training facilities for developing human resources in different fields, including banking, foreign services and telecommunications. This offer was made by Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar to the deputy chairman and finance minister of the Afghan interim administration, Hadayat Amin Arsala.
Arsala, who arrived Monday morning on a three-day official visit, will call on President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday. The Afghan minister held
talks with Sattar and Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz. Sattar reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to fully participate in the Afghanistan reconstruction
program. Pakistan has already announced that it would contribute $100 million to the reconstruction of the war-ravaged country.
In another development, the Pakistani Consulate in Jalalabad will open within next two days, an official of the foreign ministry said. A team of Pakistani diplomats led by Consulate General Ikramullah Masood had arrived in Jalalabad, and are expected to resume the mission's activities within two days, the official said.
The Pakistani Embassy in Kabul had handled visa applications only of government officials and foreign nationals working in non-governmental and international aid agencies, he added.
