Ghadhafi Says Anthrax Attacks Worse Form of Terrorism
TRIPOLI, Oct 18 (News Agencies) - Libyan leader Muammar al-Ghadhafi said that the suspected anthrax attacks in U.S., if proved true, would be "the worst type of terrorism".
"If it turns out that anthrax germs have been deliberately spread in the United States, which appears to be the case, it would be a very serious business," he said in a statement carried by JANA, Libya's official news agency.
"We are faced with real terrorism, the worst of its type," Ghadhafi said, calling biological attacks "the worst of the weapons of mass destruction, limited neither in time nor space."
Ghadhafi said he rejected the idea that "men could use bacteria against other men, whatever the extent of the hatred between them," calling it "cowardly and diabolical."
Ghadhafi, who has an estranged relationship with U.S., condemned the September 11th terror attacks and said that Libya would fight "extremist" Muslim groups.
He, however, stressed the international community should agree on the exact definition of "terrorism".
In his statement Thursday, he said that, "international responsibility and wisdom are urging that the guns be silenced and the voice of reason be heard in order to settle problems between peoples."
