Palestinians Say Israelis Taught To Hate Arabs

JERUSALEM, March 26 (News Agencies) - Nearly 50% of Palestinians believe hatred of Arabs is taught to Israelis in school and in synagogues, according to an opinion poll published Monday.

The poll, carried out by the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion (PCPO) in the West Bank town of Beit Sahur, says that out of a hundred Palestinians, 40.1 agree with the idea, 9.5 totally agree, 26.1 partially agree, 14.8 disagree and 9.5 totally reject it.

At the same time, only 36.6% of Palestinians believe they were taught to hate Israelis in schools and mosques.

The same poll also says 48.4% of Palestinians are against any form of link between their future state and Israel.

However, 15.4% want to maintain close economic relations with the Jewish state while 24.3% support the idea of economic and cultural ties.

The poll was carried out on a sample of 945 people, representative of the adult population in the Palestinian territories.
