Michael Jackson Admires Israel

BEN GURION AIRPORT, Israel, March 23 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon hob-nobbed with pop singer Michael Jackson during the course of his four-day visit to the United States, Sharon revealed Thursday.

"He told me he was a huge admirer of Israel," Sharon told journalists aboard his plane traveling back to Israel.

The meeting between the two, held at the New York City home of Israeli businessman Benny Shabtai, was arranged by Jackson friend and advisor Rabbi Shmuley Boteach.

Jackson and Boteach may be planning an upcoming visit to Israel to promote the message of their Heal the Kids charity.

Boteach said of the meeting between the musical dignitary and Sharon, "The prime minister was very gracious, it was a nice visit, and they had a good rapport."

Sharon said that he had met with Jackson, the author of such pop favorites as "Beat It" and "Thriller", during the course of one of 17 events that the prime minister attended Wednesday in New York City.

Asked if he enjoyed Jackson's songs, Sharon, 73, answered simply: "I am a connoisseur of modern music."
