IslamOnline General Director Passes Away
DOHA, March 3 (IslamOnline) - Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Qotbah, general director of IslamOnline.net, passed on to the mercy of Allah today, Saturday, March 3, 2001, at about the age of 46. He had been suffering for sometime now of sicknesses and finally of a stomach hemorrhage.
Qotbah was a founding member of the Balagh Cultural Society for Islamic Services on the Internet, the parent company of IslamOnline.net.
Dr. Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, was professor of English in the University of Qatar and was an Assistant Undersecretary in the Ministry of Education for Academic Affairs in Qatar.
Qotbah was known in Gulf countries for his involvement in several social organizations and charitable societies, particularly the Islamic Relief Corporation, affiliated with the United Nations.
He was also well known for his amazing and accurate poetic talent in the Arabic language. He also has a long history in serving Islam and Muslims. His great work was recognized by several countries, including within the United Kingdom and Egypt, not mention his homeland, Qatar.
Dr. Muhammad, may Allah have mercy on him, was also known for his service to the people and his efforts to help them with their personal affairs, so much so that a rhyming Arabic phrase was coined in his remembrance, "If you have a need [hajah], then go to Dr. Qotbah".
May Allah have mercy on his valuable soul and may He cause him to enter into the spacious Gardens of Paradise. We ask Allah to inspire Dr. Muhammad's family, as well as all of us, to have patience and resignation to the decree of our Lord.
"Indeed to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return."
