Three Stamps Issued In Egypt In Honor Of Palestinian Strife

WASHINGTON & CAIRO, Jan 26 (IslamOnline & News Agencies) - Egypt issued three stamps Friday commemorating the Palestinian Intifada, as well as Mohammed Al-Durra, the Palestinian boy whose death by Israeli bullets left the world grief stricken, according to Egypt's al-Akhbar.

The three stamps are marked with the slogan "solidarity with the Palestinian people" and are worth 0.2 Egyptian pounds (five cents) and 1.25 Egyptian pounds ($0.32 cents).

The Mohammed Al-Durra stamp is a drawing of the12-year-old boy shot by Israeli bullets as he huddled against his father who attempted to shield him with one arm and signaled the shooting to stop with the other.

The backdrop of the stamp includes a picture of the al-Aqsa mosque, with the Palestinian flag waving above it.

The two other stamps are photos of the al-Aqsa mosque and mosque compound, in which both include Palestinian flags.

Sovereignty over the mosque, a site holy to both Jews and Muslims, is one of the key factors preventing the Israelis and the Palestinians from reaching a peace accord.
