Boycott Of Pro-Israeli Businesses Gains Momentum

WASHINGTON (IslamOnline) - The London based Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC) says that its campaign to boycott businesses that back Israel has registered tremendous success in the past few weeks.

The IHRC had called for a boycott of companies, including the Marc & Spencer chain across England, in the wake of the massacre of Palestinians at the hands of Israeli soldiers.

The IHRC's 23,000 activists and supporters launched an intense campaign by distributing fliers and posters outside several stores, highlighting the Israeli atrocities.

IHRC's Chairman Massoud Shadrajeh told the UPI news agency his organization was trying to "galvanize public pressure against those governments and institutions currently supporting Israel, so that they cease that support."

Shadrajeh said that Marc & Spencer was targeted because the chain, "economically supports child-killers [Israel]," and therefore said "our message is: don't support it. What is required there is total boycott so that the store should simply be forced to shut [down] through peaceful protests."

Shadrajeh added, “It is clear that the British people, due to their sense of justice and fair play, will not tolerate deliberate targeting of innocent children and civilians for political ends."

IHRC is currently trying to coordinate efforts with other Muslim organizations to present a united front. "It is absolutely essential that all these organizations coordinate their efforts if they wish to create and sustain an effective impact against Israel. What is important is that we see the practical implementation of calls for boycott," Shadrajeh said.
