Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qardawi Declared Personality Of The Year
WASHINGTON (IslamOnline) – A leading Islamic scholar, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, has been declared as the Islamic Personality of the Year, receiving the Dubai International Holy Qur’an Award.
Qaradawi is the fourth winner of the award in its four year history. Other winners of the award included such luminaries as Maulana Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi.
The award is established by the Crown Prince of Dubai and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Defense, General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.
Ibrahim Bu Melha, Dubai Public Prosecutor and chairman of the award’s organizing committee, at a press conference Wednesday, announced this year’s winner.
This is the sixth major award for Qaradawi for what commentators are calling his untiring and selfless service for Islam and Muslims around the world.
