Infamous 'Analyzer' To Help Israeli Hackers
WASHINGTON (IslamOnline) - Alarmed by the recent spate of attacks on Israeli websites, the Israeli Internet Underground (IIU) hacking group has now solicited the support of “Analyzer” Ehud Tenenbaum reports the Jerusalem Post.
Analyzer, who allegedly broke into the Pentagon website in 1998 was tried for the offense, but his trial since then has been put on hold. He is currently chief technical officer at the hi-tech firm, 2XS.
A number of Israeli websites were defaced and vandalized by pro-Palestinian hacking groups after Israelis tried to clog up Hezbollah and Palestinian sites.
Most recently, pro-Palestinian hackers broke into Israel’s Open University website and placed a picture of a boy urinating on an Israeli flag. A Pakistani group called G-Force was allegedly behind the attacks, setting up a number of websites with appeals for cyber attacks on Israel.
Analyzer founded the IIU in 1996 but was disowned after the attacks on the Pentagon. "After that story, they forgot about me, they were afraid to get near me. Since then, anonymity has been the name of the game," Analyzer told the Jerusalem Post.
He said the Israeli hackers group contacted him about ten days before asking him if his company would provide free security solutions for Israeli sites.
Out of five companies that IIU contacted, only Analyzer's company offered its services.
IIU has offered to run security checks on the vulnerability of Israeli websites with 2XS providing security advice when needed.
On its website, IIU carries a list of Israeli sites that have been targets, or are potential targets. The main page proclaims: "Our goal is to inform, provide solutions wherever we can, and protect our sites against political cyber-vandalism. Make sure you won't be the next victim."
"We, the Israeli Internet Underground, are white-hats, dedicated to the Israeli spirit, and united in order to protect Israel on the Internet against any kind of attacks from malicious hacking groups," it continued.
White-hat hackers are those which break into sites only to leave messages directed to the webmaster on how to protect the website.
