Cyclone Nargis swept across Myanmar in May, triggering a huge sea surge and leaving around 138,000 dead or missing. It tore through the rice-growing Irrawaddy Delta, the worst affected area, wiping out entire villages with powerful winds and giant waves. The UN estimates up to 2.4 million survivors are struggling to rebuild their lives.
