China's deadliest earthquake in more than 30 years struck the country's southwest on May 12, leaving more than 80,000 dead and 10 million homeless. The quake, measuring 8.0 on Richter scale, ravaged Sichuan province and will cost 1 trillion yuan ($146.5bln) over the next three years to rebuild ravaged areas.
