To Whom It May Concern

By Yusuf Qassiem Gassiep

Mar. 19, 2006

Hatred for our brother spread world wide

We smile in his face and hide what's inside

Hypocrisy we call it nothing else my dear brother

Clean your heart from it please because we need each other

Gheeba ain't something taken lightly by our Lord

Strange how something like the tongue can become more dangerous than the sword

What do we gain by talking behind his back

What could it be perhaps Imaan that we lack

Claiming that we'll say it in his face makes it none the better

If we can't face him rather write him a letter

But don't make up stories and then let it spread

Because it is compared to eating your brother's flesh when he is dead

Husn-u-zan in our brother is a reality no more

Instead we injure him and cause his heart to be sore

O backbiter do you know that you have an awful smell

It's not my words but instead it was said by the Prophet oh so well

The hadeeth was reported by Imam Ahmad and the narration is sound

If you believe me not at least you know where the hadeeth is to be found

So with these few words we ask Allah to forgive us for what we've done

For a person without sin we find not even one

If we have differences we can clear it up without causing pain

In doing that my dear brother our friendship will remain

Those who commit gheeba will be punished in their grave

Let us think before we talk for the punishment in the grave none of us crave

Albani calssified this hadeeth as authentic in At targheeb wa Tarheeb

And this poem was written by Yusuf Gassiep
