Question:
What do you think is behind these riots?
Answer:
(17 year old Muslim youth living in
Australia
)
"The
'Australians' are scared. I'm not justifying people going
around with iron bars to bash someone's head in – but they
don't do it for no reason. There's more to it than just some
extremist Muslim groups working from
Australia
. There are also Muslims who don't even practice Islam but will
smart mouth and ignorant parents who will force their kids into
marriages they don't want and all that stuff. Now behavior like
that doesn't give the average Australian person a good idea
about Islam. And then we have to admit that there are Muslim
gangs who go around making trouble. Of course there are reasons
behind everything but on the surface that's what the
'Australian' people see. And most people just look at what's on
the surface. "
Question:
What do you think is the solution?
Answer:
What I think is that everyone has to put themselves in the other
person's shoes and always remember that everyone is an
individual and that groups are a myth. What it comes down to is
that everyone has to think for themselves. Only smart
people can do that and unfortunately not everyone is smart.. So
the media does a good job at brainwashing people and it works on
most but not all. I still believe the Australian people are easy
going accepting kind of people but the media has scared some of
them and this is what we have."
