This
is the first time I'm writing to you. Hopefully, you will
enjoy reading what I have to say as much as I enjoyed writing
it. Furthermore, I ask Allah that you will learn something
as I share my views and experiences with you.
I
know the word learning sounds like school. But the reality
of life is that we are learning everyday. We have been
learning from the day we were born. We learned quickly who
our mother was; even before we could speak or be fully
cognizant. We knew our mothers. But we had to learn
who she was. When we were brought home, we had to learn
our fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, and uncles. We
learned that we had to eat. We learned that we had to
sleep. We also learned that the oven was hot, snow was
cold, and candy was tasty.
Our
entire experience on this earth is one big classroom where we
spend all our time learning.
I
am sure many of you have learrnt what time your favorite TV
program comes on. You have leaned now to play sports, the rules
of games, and of course, you learn in school. As a matter of
fact, if you are reading this you have already learnt how to
read.
And
if you are anything like my children and grandchildren, you
didn't enjoy learning how to read. Many children fight
learning with all of their energy. Their main reason: IT
ISNT FUN. But now look at you, if you didn't know how to
read, think of how much of a disadvantage you would have in
life.
Not
everything in life is fun and games. If you really think
about it, nothing that you benefit from in life is fun to learn.
But if you do not learn these beneficial things, you will not
gain intelligence and wisdom. And no one wants to live
their life not being smart.
The
things that we learn that are fun are usually not that
beneficial for us.
I
want to write to you all often and my writings will be no more
than my sharing my life with you, hoping you can learn from what
little I know. In sha’ Allah, I ask that you make
this a benefit for me and you. May Allah bless the Muslims in
every place.
