One Year From the Death of My Son

27/03/2004

A car bomb explosion in Baghdad

Greetings to all.

Today it is one year from the death of my beloved son, Jesus Alberto, my Aztec soldier, one year from one more lie by Bush on informing my family of the causes of his death, a year of insult to the memory of my son on the part of Bush, who didn’t even pay for the funeral expenses.

A year of great love, respect and admiration that my Aztec soldier made disappear from the community. A year without his smile, his caresses, his human warmth, but most painful of all, a year without his great physical presence.

A year that my precious grandson Erick lives without the necessary presence of his father, without his kiss, without his caresses, without his example. One year that my wife has not stopped crying for his absence, without the love of son and mother. One year that my daughters live without the support of their big brother, without his counsel, without his jokes, without his love.

A year in which the deaths in Iraq have not stopped, in which good young men with dreams have left their families forever to keep company with my son in that precious blessed place. A year that thousands of innocent Iraqi children have fallen because of Bush’s lies, thousands of innocent men and women have lost their liberty, their dreams, because of Bush’s lies.

Today, March 27, completes one year since my son fell.

Because of the negligence of the military command in Iraq, a family continues mourning, continues crying for his absence, and we are celebrating a Mass in his memory in the Church of Santa Maria in the city of Escondido at 7 pm. I know that many remember and accompany us in our pain and I want to thank them for so much love and moral support to my family in this tragic year, not so much for the Suarez del Solar family as for the more than 560 American families that have suffered and were tricked by this cursed, immoral war.

My Aztec soldier lives. My Aztec soldier is in a place of peace. I ask my friends from the press to not bring cameras; we want this service to be between friends without more publicity, all are welcome. Thank you for your understanding.

For a generation full of peace and love. The Aztec soldier. May God bless him.

Sincerely, family of Suarez del Solar, parents of Jesus Alberto Suarez del Solar Navarro Lance Corporal USMC, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division
