Muslim Dictators

Reader's Comments:

Your publication shows a real ignorance of America and its Constitutional Rights.

First, for your edification, there is no constitutional right to be free to speak at a private event. A private club, person, etc. can prevent such speech. In other words, freedom of speech means only a government cannot prevent you from speaking. If private people don't like what you stand for, they have the right to not buy your product--that is freedom of expression as well.

Second, your right – its one big conspiracy to get Muslims. The irony is that as long as the Muslim world continues to blame everybody else but their own two-bit dictators and culture for their problems, the Muslim world will always be in the third world.

It is simply amazing to me that the Muslim world does not see the events in Iraq as positive. Yes, civilians were killed. However, I guarantee you that less civilians were killed by the US in the three-week war than were killed by the Iraqi regime in those same three weeks. Kids in jail for not joining the Bath Party; hundreds of thousands of Muslims killed and/or tortured because of their politics or a whim; people starving while the leaders are living a life of luxury; gassing of Muslims; an intent to build weapons that are a threat to the world. How can anyone be credible if they don't report these horrors and give the US some credit for the removal of the regime? Are you kidding me? Get of your soapbox (your agenda) and start taking responsibility for the fate of the Muslim world.

America became a superpower for a reason – its democracy and the way it values human life. Stop the cycle of hate and fear mongering and begin the cycle of responsibility and accountability. Then and only then will you be taken seriously by the rest of the world.

The offhand way with which you refer to civilian deaths speaks volumes about you. This is the kind of compassion we get from the US administration. It’s a compassion we can do with out. It’s funny that you discuss civilian deaths this casually then lecture us on the value of human life.

How can your administration credibly state that it cares for Iraqi human rights and democracy when it supports dictators the world over and funds and arms tyrants elsewhere?

We have repeated it countless times: We are opposed to Saddam, and we are opposed to a US occupation. We do not deny Saddam’s numerous crimes. In fact, we were well aware of them years before the US suddenly gained its short-lived sympathy for the Iraqis. We’re also very aware of the millions of other Muslims and Arabs living under other dictators that the US administration doesn’t have a problem with because they serve a purpose. As such, you and your government are in no position to lecture us on the same freedom and democracy being trampled by your “moderate” allies and regional strongmen.

Accountability? What does the US know of accountability beyond its borders? Are any of your soldiers or pilots accountable for civilians killed? Or are they merely statistics, faceless dead among the “sand niggers” as many soldiers refer to them?
