An estimated 3 million pilgrims responded to this proclamation in 2008, traveling to the sacred city of Makkah for the performance of Hajj and ‘Umrah. For many pilgrims, greyed by the years of sacrifice, their wait had come to an end. For others, this wondrous journey is about to commence again.
If someone has been living in a cave for the past year or year and a half and only came out on October 24, he’d probably think that the world was taken over by a number. In more than 180 countries around the world, there were more than 5200 events celebrating one number: 350.
Within the Islamic world-view, this positive relationship is perceived as an act of faith which comes in line with the essential role of human beings on earth; to worship the One and Only God (Allah). Therefore, our relationship with the environment should be regulated in the field of jurisprudence.
