Ashraful Uloom and the Indonesian Muslim Community of Toronto havejoined in
arranging qurbani (udhiyah) to be donated
in Indonesia. The meat will be distributed in the Aceh province to those most
affected by the tsunami disaster. Cost is only Can$135 with tax-deductible
receipt provided by M.A. Uloom. M.A. Uloom has been running two Islamic schools
in Toronto and recently purchased a 110-acre boarding school as an Islamic
university. `Eid Prayer is also being arranged at Pearson Convention Centre on
Friday, January 21, at 9:30 a.m. with Liberal Party Wajid Khan MP and Dr. Shafiq
Qaadri MPP attending.
Qurbani
(Udhiyah) at the festival of `Eid Al-Adha is required by mature Muslims who can
afford it. The sacrifice commemorates Prophet Abraham's readiness to sacrifice
his son, identified in Islam as Ishmael, at Allah's request. This is not a blood
offering. In the Qu'ran Allah states: "Neither their meat nor their
blood ever reaches God, but heedfulness on your part does reach Him."
(37:22) The meat is distributed to relatives and to the needy. Muslims and
non-Muslims alike, especially in this situation, will benefit greatly.
On
this joyous `Eid occasion, knowing the sufferings from the Tsunami, we ask
Muslims to send their Qurbani for this year directly to Indonesia. It is
essential that we see to the needs of the most deserving and the affected in
Aceh fits this right now, doesn't it?
We
encourage other Masjids and organizations to forward this information to all and
announce it at Friday Prayer locations.
