Udhiyah/Qurbani is a religious practice performed at the time of Eid
al-Adha involving the sacrifice of an animal. The event commemorates the
sacrifice that Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) made to Allah (swt) to show
his devotion and commitment to Him.
"That
they may witness the benefits (provided) for them and celebrate the name of
Allah, through the days appointed, over the cattle which he has provided for
them (for sacrifice), then eat thereof and feed the distressed ones in
want." (Qur'an, 22:29)
Eid
al-Adha is a mercy from Allah (swt). It is a day of celebration and rememberance
of Allah. Not all of us, however, are in a position to enjoy this day, and it is
the duty of the more fortunate amongst us to help those less fortunate.
Your
donation to Islamic Relief will allow us to perform Udhiyah/Qurbani on your
behalf and distribute it to the needy, so that we may all celebrate this special
day together.
