There
are many ways we can give, and help the victims of the Asia disaster. Money has
been pouring in from all over the world and relief workers are struggling round
the clock to help the people in the nine countries that were affected by the
earthquake and subsequent tsunami.
Fear
is turning into hope and smiles can be seen through the tears of many as helping
hands are extended and kindness is made manifest.
This
is a special time for Muslims with the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah approaching
which are known as the best days of the year. The deeds we perform during this
time are rewarded greatly – only Allah knows how much. Even if you're not
going on Hajj it is the best time to fast, pray, and give charity. It is also
the time when Muslims are supposed to slaughter the sacrificial animal and
donate (part or whole) of its meat to the poor and needy. This special time
coincides with relief work in Asia, so the meat can be donated to the poor and
needy who have lost their loved ones, their homes, their economy, and so much
more.
Islamic
Relief launches a yearly campaign for Muslims to donate this meat (that they
sacrifice) to various places around the world that could make good use of it.
This year the Asia victims will receive meat that is donated to Islamic Relief.
May
Allah the Most Merciful open our minds to understand the message of Islam as a
mercy to all mankind; may He accept our good deeds and forgive our sins; may He
save us from self-righteousness and pride and soften our hearts toward the poor
and needy and give us the ability to remove harm.
