Workshop on Islamization of the School Environment

Ziadh Mohamed - Sri Lanka

OMSED Sri Lanka organized one day workshop on Islamization of the school environment at Al-Humaizara National School Beruwela on 03 rd of April, 2007. Sixty teachers participated from various parts of the country.

As-Sheikh Muhammed Hasan (M.A) did a lecture on "How to organize Islamic Cultural Activities in side the schools". Following to his lecture, As-Sheikh Abdur Rahman carried out an interactive session at which he suggested solutions to the existing problems faced by the teachers. Finally Mr. MTM.Alavi,President Of OMSED Sri Lanka, explained about the main areas to be considered when Islamizing the school environment.

Eventually participants discussed the ways to implement the ideas gathered in the workshop. They finally agreed to form three different groups and appointed office bearers for each group. The groups are:

1. Syllabus designing group.

2. The group to upgrade the physical and moral environment of the schools.

3. The group to organize and conduct awareness programs for parents and teacher.
