Dubai - Christie's held its first-ever art auction in the Middle East this week in Dubai, bringing in almost 8.5 million dollars with Indian art fetching the highest bids, the auction house said. The event, held in a ballroom at one of Dubai's most luxurious hotels, was attended by about 500 bidders with more than 120 works of art from the Arab world, Iran, India, Pakistan and the West on offer, according to Christie's…

Iranian director gets red card for 'Offside' flick

Tehran - Prominent Iranian film director Jafar Panahi has again fallen foul of the Islamic republic's censors, this time with a light-hearted critique of a ban on women going to football matches. The film, entitled "Offside", depicts a group of girls who disguise themselves as boys in a bid to illicitly watch their national side qualify for the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany.
