Tombo Ati

Translated by Annisa A. Rochiad

Tombo ati iku ono limang perkoro

Kaping pisan moco Qur'an sakmaknane

Kaping pindo Sholat wengi lakonono

Kaping telu wong kang sholeh kumpulono

Kaping papat weteng iro engkang luwe

Kaping limo dzikir wengi ingkang suwe

Salah sakwijine sopo biso ngelakoni

Insya Allah Gusti Pangeran ngijabahi

The remedy for the soul (the heart) consists of five affairs:

The first is to read the Qur'an and to reflect on its meanings

The second is to prostrate oneself; body and soul, in prayer in the middle of the night

The third is to surround oneself with the company of the pious

The fourth is to endure hunger (by fasting)

The fifth is to never be weary of Dhikr

Should one be able to devote oneself in any of the above, God-willing, one's fate (affairs) will be taken care of (blessed) by the Almighty.
