We've seen announcements more and more frequently about
success in cloning various animals. Most recently it was a
deer, I believe. Cloning opens up a Pandora's box of
issues that need to be dealt with.
For example, how long is it before we'll be able to clone a
Human? Do we even want to be able to clone people? And
then who has the rights to the identity?
Some of the results of cloning experiments so far suggest
that the results would not be as expected. For instance,
cloning is generally thought to produce an exact copy.
While on a genetic level that is true, it has been found
that cats and dogs who are cloned often end up very
different from the original, including fur
coloration/pattern and temperament.
