I would ask everyone to step back from their political 
arguments for a minute and think about the frightening new 
world we all live in since September 11th. We now realize 
that 19 people can cause massive death and destruction for 
many thousands of people. Perhaps only one person has 
unleashed the threat of inhalation anthrax. Isn't it really 
the spread of technical and scientific knowledge to people 
who didn't have it before that is endangering everyone? 
Anyone can walk in off the steet, enroll in a class and 
quickly become the pilot of a jumbo jet and turn it into a 
missile. Any guy in his basement can learn how to prepare 
anthrax or some other deadly toxin. Anyone with $30,000 can 
apparently obtain enriched uranium on the black market to 
build their own nuclear weapon. It doesn't really matter 
what the ideology of these people is, this is a truly 
dangerous situation for all of humanity. We can't just turn 
back the clock and destroy all scientific knowledge but how 
do we protect ourselves from the fanatics and the guy with 
a grudge? I wish I had the answer to this question.
