Most of us Internet users are probably unaware of the
desperate water scarcity problems facing millions on this
planet. While we take half-hour showers, leave our faucets
open while we brush our teeth, and don't pay a mind to our
dripping faucets unless they're driving us mad from the
constant sound of drip-drip, billions of people don't have
running water in their homes let alone a safe means to
dispose of sanitation. Women in many parts of the world
walk miles every day to get water for their families and
then walk back miles carrying it on their heads.
Many issues arise from all this. Are we, as individuals,
doing anything to save water? What can be done? Also, many
governments are moving into the privatisation of the water
industries in their countries. Will this solve or create
problems? Are you aware of activities going on in your
region by NGOs that are successful in providing safe water
and sanitation to the people?
Have your say.
