Are we ready as Muslims to answer this question ,if it was
asked by a Danish citizen ? I'm sure it will not be
difficult to explain how insulting the prophets – not only
our prophet – is unacceptable and considered a red line
that can't be ignored. The problem with the Danish cartoons
show how there is a real gap not only between the Muslim
world and the West ,but between two different ways of
thinking.

As Muslims we used to put what is sacred on the top and
in the west ,the law is above all. Not only that, but the
West do not believe that there is anything called taboo and
there is nothing that they cannot speak of or about. Maybe
we need to be clear on the concept of sacredness , what is
sacred and how we as Muslims treat these 'sacred' topics.
I'd like to ask again, can we bridge the gap between what
is legal and what is sacred? I have the feeling that the
Europeans do not understand the religious discourse and
that's why they did not get our message

The mass boycott by Muslim countries showed also to what
extent there is a need to redefine the
word "responsibility " according to the nature of every
society ; that we should only punish those who are
responsible for a certain mistake, and not to practice
unnecessary 'group punishment'. The problem with boycotts
is that it is too general in nature, instead of dealing
with the people responsible for the disturbance only, we
are putting everyone into the same basket.

Let's think together why the Europeans are unable to
understand our messages ? And do you think it is fair to
punish all the society when someone of that society does a
mistake? How can we say NO in an understandable way?

Salam
