I join hundreds of people to rejoice the arrival of new
era in Sudan, for ending the longest civil war in Africa.
Now peace and progress will have chance in the region.
The Sudanese Government and rebels in the country's south
led by John Gerrang have signed a peace deal that calls for
shared power and exempts Christians from Muslim sharia law.
The protocol also includes how Abyei, the Nuba Mountains
and Southern Blue Nile regions would be administered.
The agreement, reached in Naivasha, Kenya, also promises
Christians in Sudan's devastated southern region a
referendum in 2010 on whether to secede, a hard-won victory
by the rebels. More than 2 million people have died during
the 21-year war
Can these end the Sudan crises while Darfor is still
pulling the trigger? Who is behind this accord? Can
millions of Southern Sudanese return to there devastated
home?
