Salam Aleikum.
In reference to the article "Is Islam Undemocratic" by
Parvez Manzoor on the Contemporary Issues page, I would
like to discuss with interested parties the issue of
whether Islam and modernity are compatible.
Today, the Western powers that be would have us believe
that a concept like Islamic democracy (note lower-case "d")
is an oxymoron and that Muslims must inevitably forgo their
Deen in order to function in the Information Age.
I beg to differ. The Sunna of the Prophet Muhammad (peace
and blessings be upon him) is valid until the Last Day, and
it is the genious of the Islamic intellectual process
(ijtihaad) that allows us to function in any environment at
anytime. Your thought?
