Before the invasion of Iraq even started, pieces of the 
cake were being divided, or at least eyed with greed.  The 
word "reconstruction" is being used as the obvious reason 
for handing out contracts worth millions of dollars to 
American companies.  

UK firms have been lobbying to get their share in the 
business of this reconstruction process. 

How much should we trust this word that is being used quite 
frequently in the media and by the governments of the 
invading forces? Will the reconstruction process be one 
that reinforces the dominance of Western values? (Read: 
After the War is Over, What Then?

. Or is this only a way to prolong Western presence 
in the country even after the invading forces leave (if 
they ever do)?
