Ok, everyone. Help me out with this, particularly all you
Americans out there. Please, as far as is humanly possible,
avoid sarcasm, I'm interested in dialogue and debate, not
insults and sarcasm.
Why this war? Why is America currently going to war with
Iraq? As an Arab, I can't overlook the fact that the US
doesn't seem to be primarily interested in the weapons of
mass destruction or in "liberating Iraq." This I believe
for a number of reasons:
1) Israel possesses a full arsenal of weapons of mass
destruction, and also has a record for aggressive wars
2) N. Korea also looks set to build up a nuclear arsenal,
and the US government is dealing with it with the
proverbial kid gloves
3) Israel is also in violation of multiple Security Council
resolutions
3) America is allied with or otherwise on good terms with
various other repressive/brutal dictators who repress their
people, e.g. Algeria, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Egypt, etc.
Many of these countries torture and kill their political
opponents. Other countries repress their people and violate
their rights, but we don't seek the US mobilizing aircraft
carriers
So I want us to discuss this, candidly, and above all,
DECENTLY. I want to argue, I don't want to fight. Looking
