Israel
is fighting media coverage of aggressions on Palestinians. Arab,
European and American media have been attacked by the Israeli
occupation army to force them to leave the areas of aggression
and so that they do not cover the massacres and Israeli
atrocities which pose a constant danger on the residents of the
occupied Palestinian cities.
This
is a tribute to all media people and agencies who have remained
true to their duty of telling the truth.
In
the midst of this Israeli aggression, it is vital that these
brave people be recognized for their work – no less important
than that of humanitarian groups.
It
is only by the dissemination of the truth that the situation can
change, because knowledge is always power.
Ever
since Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon declared war on the
Palestinian people Friday, March 28, Israeli forces have so far
attacked the Palestinian towns of Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarem,
Qalqilya, Ramallah, and Bethlehem - as well as a number of
Palestinian-controlled villages. Jericho is the last major West
Bank town still under Palestinian control.
The
Israeli army has killed up to 238 Palestinians in less than 10
days, using the most sophisticated American weaponry. It has
forbidden ambulances and medical aid from reaching the wounded,
which are left to bleed to death.
Israel
has forbidden humanitarian supplies from reaching the
Palestinians, which have been under siege by the Israeli army
for two weeks running, with no source of food, water,
electricity, or medicine.
The
Palestinians are not even allowed to bury their dead.
These
realities must be shown to the world.
